As Summer settles in for the year and Fall makes itself known, I tend to make it a priority to find new obsessions for my skin.
In Texas, our weather has a habit of fluctuating every other day. For example, today had a high of 84 degrees and tomorrow the high will be 56. Not only is it a toll on my wardrobe (and health) it’s also a burden on my skin. Urban Hydration is a black owned, gluten-free, plant based hair and skin care line ran by a Husband and Wife team. All of their products are food, fruit and plant based which is an added bonus to the price point. Thanks to the Bella Kinks Natural Hair Expo, an event celebrating natural hair, I got to not only get introduced to the brand but it’s owner. The business is ran by a husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Terry. According to the website, the brand was created to “lead a more happier and healthier lifestyle”.I ended up purchasing their Body Wash, Sugar Scrub and Salt Soak.
Upon the first use, I noticed that the smell was magic in a bottle. Seriously, I felt like a goddess just by the smell alone.
With the Body Wash, the only downfall I had was the pump to lather ratio. Normally with body wash, you could get a good lather with 2-3 pumps to UH’s 8-10. The size of the body wash is 32oz, which is HUGE! It’ll definitely last me throughout the Fall season.
Urban Hydration’s Sugar Scrub is probably my favorite out of the three I purchased. It contains Pineapple extract which combats aging and scrubbing away dead skin cells. Also, it contains Vitamins that are nourishing to the body! What I enjoyed most is its multipurpose use for your body and your face. Not only is it all natural, it also has a long lasting moisture to your skin. Lastly, the smell of pineapple carries you into the next day so expect lot of compliments from your peers!
Move over Epson Salt, this Salt Soak may be your new replacement. Okay, picture this: You’re coming in from a long day at work. Working almost 10 hours on you feet, dealing with customers and ultimately feeling drained. THEN, you also went to the gym TWICE today, trying out that new machine in the ‘Mr. Universe’ area. Your body screams, “sis, wyd?”. This is where you insert in the Salt Soak. With it dissolving instantly, you don’t have to endure the awkward sticky tub. Enriched with Vanilla extract, this product protects the skin from infections and speeds up the progress of healing. With my short time using it, I’ve also noticed it has cleared my eczema underneath my arms and elbows.
Minor improvements aren’t that big of a deal so would I purchase again? yes. I think I finally found the line accustomed to my skin type. What skin care line are you loving right now?
